2015-16 Honoree - Dr. Renee Moore
Professor and Department Head, Child and Family Development, West Plains campus
Dr. Moore leads by example by immersing herself in public affairs first, before having the expectation in others. She uniquely engages students to develop leadership skills by creating varied opportunities to actively manage community-wide programs such as the Poverty Simulation and the Read While You Wait projects. Students are able to explore a world outside their own and gain a deeper knowledge of the more complex issues affecting children and families in our society. For 11 years, Dr. Moore coordinated a summer youth program that required a community service component for attendees ages 6-12. Astounding results revealed the children accomplishing much more than many of the adult groups. Whether it be by course requirement, extra credit, service learning or simply as a volunteer, we congratulate Dr. Moore’s accomplishments in creating pathways for student success.
