Dr. Richard Biagioni - 2018 Awardee

Professor, Chemistry

For 10 years, Dr. Biagioni has dedicated 24 Saturdays a year volunteering for Habitat for Humanity.  Helping families build a stable foundation through housing is the perfect match for Richard’s passion to build and fix whatever he can get his hands on.  Richard has also built quite the reputation for his chemistry-themed chili booth at the Sertoma Chili Cook-Off.  For 20 years, he has assembled a team of chemistry students to help formulate the possible winning chili formula to benefit Springfield’s Boys and Girls Clubs.  As Richard notes, these volunteer activities are not only a great workout and fun to do, but allows me the opportunity to more deeply connect and invest in the people of our community.

For his passion, dedication and outstanding service to the community, we honor Dr. Richard Biagioni with the 2018 Faculty Excellence in Community Service Award.
