Teri Poindexter - 2020 Awardee

At some point, most every kid wants a pet, right?  For Teri, what started out as simply fulfilling her daughter’s dream for a dog, led to a new passion in animal rescue.

In just over two years, Teri has fostered over 30 dogs through Rescue One.  She loves to work with both older and more feral dogs, which have the hardest time being placed for adoption. As she states, “our foster dogs come from puppy mills, hoarding environments, dog fighting or because someone had to enter a nursing home.”

Teri also serves on the board for the Springfield Animal Advocacy Foundation (SAAF) and has provided countless volunteer hours over the years for a variety of Springfield area nonprofits and programs.
