Gilbert Brown
Associate professor, School of Special Education, Leadership and Professional Studies
Dr. Gilbert Brown, associate professor in the School of Special Education, Leadership and Professional Studies, has been the director of the Student Affairs in Higher Education program since August 2007.
Prior to coming to Missouri State University, Dr. Brown taught undergraduate and graduate diversity/multicultural classes at IUPUI, Franklin College, and the University of Indianapolis. His research and publication interests reflect his interests in the nexus between diversity, multiculturalism and underrepresented undergraduates at selective public universities. He is particularly interested in low-income students from rural and urban areas.
Gilbert has published a book titled "Unleashing Suppressed Voices on College Campuses: Diversity Issues in Higher Education" (2007) as well as several articles including The Inclusive University: Helping Underrepresented Students Choose a College and Identify Institutions that Value Diversity in the "Journal of College Admissions."
